Trauma Therapy in Bellingham, MA

Difficult experiences can keep shaping your reactions long after the circumstances have changed. Therapy offers a place to understand those reactions and discuss what support feels right for you.

Start with what is happening now

You do not have to begin by giving a detailed account of everything that happened. The first conversations can focus on what is difficult today, what helps you feel settled, and what you want your clinician to understand about your needs.

Traumatic experiences can affect people in different ways. PTSD is one possible response, but this page is not a diagnosis. Your clinician can discuss assessment and treatment options in the context of your history and present concerns.

Choice and pacing matter

The work is collaborative. You and your clinician can talk about goals, how to approach difficult material, and how to recognize when a session needs to slow down. Practical work may include understanding triggers, developing ways to respond to distress, and addressing patterns that affect your relationships.

We do not assume that everyone needs the same method. Ask your clinician how they work, what an approach involves, and how progress will be discussed. These are reasonable questions before and throughout therapy.

Clinician fit and EMDR

All of our clinicians take a trauma-focused approach. Khristy is trained in EMDR. If you are interested in EMDR, contact us to ask about working with Khristy, current availability, and whether that approach may fit your concerns.

Gail also has extensive experience with older adults, chronic illness, grief, and caregiving. The team profiles can help you identify a starting point. Our office is in Bellingham, with in-person and telehealth appointments.
